It was from one of those chain restaurants that have a veneer of being upscale. Either way, it was beef patty, montreal smoked meat, bacon, cheddar, and horseradish mayo. It wasn’t the best burger I’ve had, but I thought it was a very solid combination of meats and overall it was tasty.
Fries were somewhat disappointing, but since I love fries I ate them all anyway. The biggest problem was that they were somewhat soggy and didn’t have that excellent crispness you’d get from a properly done french fry.
This is preceded and followed by many old-fashioneds. Luckily, no ill effects today - just a reminder of a good burger.
I hope Oppo had a tasty meal yesterday, too, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! or something fancier on a Saturday night. Given what I spent last night, it’s probably back to beans (mmmm.... delicious beans) tonight.

I had an urge to have a burger a few weeks ago and went to Five Guys and got just a plain cheeseburger. Skipped all the toppings and condiments. It was actually delicious. I think I’ve become a purist: just give me a good bun, a good patty, and a good slice of cheese. No ketchup, no mayo, no mustard, no lettuce, no pickles, nothing. Meat, cheese, bread.

I had Döner Kebab on the night between Friday/Saturday. Great food after hours of partying.

I do the same.

If a burger is done right you probably don’t need all those extras, but the only times I’ve had plain burgers (that I can recall) have been... unfortunate. However, those were times where people were usually inattentive at the grill rather than a plain cheeseburger from a restaurant.

I really like doner kebabs but you don’t see them around here. There is a large Lebanese community here and we do get a lot of shawarma along with other great stuff like Lebanese meat pies and cheese pies (it’s actually just stuff baked on flatbread but it’s excellent).

You can get Döner at literally every corner here in Germany. And it’s relatively cheap, too. The Lebanese meatpie sounds interesting.

Here on the west coast I’m more of an In-N-Out fan. I have had a particularly smoky burger (not theirs) last until the next morning, as well. Not a good thing!
